What Is TPU Breathable Film?
TPU Breathable Film (Thermoplastic Polyurethane Waterproof & Moisture-Permeable Membrane) is a
high-performance functional film that achieves an extraordinary balance: it is 100% waterproof
against liquid water, yet highly breathable — allowing water vapor (perspiration) to
escape freely through the membrane.
This “breathable yet waterproof” property is achieved through advanced polymer engineering. The TPU
membrane contains no through-pores — instead, water vapor molecules are transported through the
hydrophilic molecular chains of the polyurethane itself, a mechanism known as monolithic
(non-porous) breathability. This eliminates the risk of pore clogging, delamination, or
bacterial penetration, making it superior to traditional microporous membranes.

How Breathable TPU Membrane Works
Unlike microporous films that rely on tiny holes (which can clog or tear), our TPU breathable film
uses a monolithic hydrophilic transport mechanism — moisture moves through the polymer itself.
💧 Liquid Water Blocked
Water droplets are too large to pass through the dense polymer network. The film maintains a complete barrier against rain, splash, and pressurized water — hydrostatic head exceeds 20,000 mmH₂O.
🌬️ Vapor Passes Through
Water vapor molecules (perspiration) are small enough to be absorbed by the hydrophilic groups in the TPU molecular chain, then desorbed on the other side — transporting moisture outward continuously.
⚡ Continuous Comfort
The moisture gradient between the body (warm, humid) and the exterior (cool, dry) drives vapor transport automatically. No pumps, no energy input — just thermodynamic diffusion at the molecular level.
